2290 Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax
Registration for 2022 UCR Filing opened on October 1, 2021. While the fees for 2022 are the same as for the previous year, there are lots of opportunities for errors and a potential that you may have overpaid and will continue to do so.
File Only for Required Vehicles
The most common mistake is filing for more of your vehicles than required. The basis for the 2022 fee structure is the number of commercial vehicles (not including trailers) as reported by your MCS-150 on file with FMCSA.
If you haven’t started your commercial operations yet or are planning to add or remove vehicles, getting a consult from a third-party agency such as VLC is a great choice. They will make sure you file accurately, and in many cases, they save their clients’ money by making sure they don’t overpay.
